PROJECT BRIEF
Design a set of three liquor bottles and their outer packaging.

Immaculate Liqueurs • “To be free from sin is to be immaculate”
The pear fruit, violet flower, and rose bush are all images that represent the Virgin Mary. The sweetness of the pear symbolizes the love between mother and child; violets represent the modesty of the Virgin Mary; and she is often referred to as “the rose without thorns” and “Rosa Mystica”. Historically, liqueurs are descendants of herbal medicines. The first liqueur ever invented was made by Italian monks in the 13th century, and it is called Chartruese. They came up with the concoction by combining 130 herbs, flowers, and plants. This trio of unique liqueurs that I designed focus on each flavor to highlight their ethereal ability to transform anything from bad to pure. Just one drop of any of these three heavenly liqueurs could soften even the evilest of hearts.
DESIGN CONCEPT
My liqueur packaging will combine the vintage look of old medicine bottles with old Baroque style imagery of the Virgin Mary. The final result will be a set of three liqueurs, each for a different time surrounding a meal. One should be sipped before dinner (aperitif), one during dinner (joindre), and the last after (digestif), as if they were part of a ceremony.
THEMATIC TREATMENT
The theme for this project was to create a very luxurious, almost gaudy, appearance. I was inspired by old relic and jewelry boxes for the outer container, while the label was inspired by old medicine bottles.
MATERIALS
The outer container is a set of drawers constructed out of foam core, patterned metallic paper, gold beads and baubles, glitter, claw feet, pearls, and rhinestones. The insides of each drawer were lined with red velvet, and adorned with small crystal drawer pulls. The labels on the bottles themselves were printed on matte paper, and their lids were crafted out of Sculpey.
